HIV counselling and testing
HIV/AIDS is a serious health concern in South Africa, which has one of the highest infection rate worldwide. However, only an estimated one in five infected people in the country are aware of their status.
This led Agri-IQ to initiate an HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) programme for farm workers, in collaboration with The Global Fund and Right to Care – a local non-profit organisation. Through this programme, which is in line with the South African Government’s HCT campaign, farm workers receive confidential HIV/AIDS testing and counselling.
The Agri-IQ team is currently working on farms in the Nkomazi municipal area of Mpumalanga and tests around 30,000 farm workers in a 12 month cycle.
